Our staff is interested, passionate and creative. Our stylists do not specialize, rather each stylist has spent years behind the chair practicing all areas of hair artistry. Our expertise is rooted in the classics, but we are always interested in learning the latest techniques and ways to improve what we do. Whether working with Richard or his creative team, all of Salon Rouges’ guests experience the same visionary approach to beauty – healthy, uncomplicated and chic.
Richard Staab, Owner and Stylist
A veteran of the industry, Richard Staab began his Minneapolis career at Horst in Edina, but after one year he opened his own Uptown salon in 1989. D.Richard Salon was an instant success, but after 17 years of operating a large-scale salon Richard turned his attention to building the salon he had always envisioned; an intimate, warm, and well-curated boutique salon.
In 2006, Richard discovered the perfect location in the heart of the Harmon District, just on the edge of downtown.
Richard’s passion for details is obvious the minute you enter Salon Rouge. White marble floors, crystal chandeliers, Rococo flourishes of gilded gold, fuchsia and cherry red provide the perfect backdrop to this luxe 5-chair salon

Jeffrey Dunn, Makeup Artist
Jeffrey began his career in 1996 after attending the Aveda Institute in Minneapolis. He spent the next 10 years working with Chanel, MAC, Bobbi Brown, Aveda, Laura Mercier and Kevyn Aucoin specializing in fresh, natural-looking makeup.
In 2006, Jeffrey brought his passion for beauty to Salon Rouge. He has worked backstage at DIFFA, Voltage and Glamorama and his work has been seen in Atlanta Magazine, Modern Salon and MPLS/St. Paul. Although high fashion and runway makeup can be fun, his passion has always been making women feel better about themselves, whether it’s by taking makeup off or putting it on.

I knew from my earliest memories, that I was meant to be in an industry where I could express my creativity and transform people, and take what can often be an intimidating process and make it relaxing and fun.
Helping clients with their own personal style so that they can feel their best is the reason I love what I do. Education is crucial not only for myself, but for the client as well. Not only will I give the perfect blowout, I will take the time so that you are able to replicate it at home.
Using Balayage techniques and other forms of hair painting utilizing Color.me by Kevin Murphy, I specialize in making sure every client leaves with a color that is not only beautiful, but suits their lifestyle and personality as well.
I specialize in modern, relaxed up-do's and braiding for memorable looks. Wether it's an elaborate up-do or beachy braids, I'd love to help get you ready for that special event.
